Bomb Shrapnel in human body for past 11 years

Pyuthan, March 30: A bomb shrapnel that entered into the body of a school adolescent girl of district headquarters Khalanga some 11 years ago has not yet been taken out.

            Piki BK hailing from Khalanga-9, Budhachaur has been surviving a painful life with shrapnel inside her body when family could not financially afford to undertake surgery to take out shrapnel.

            She sustained injuries in an explosion of stray bomb along the trail road in Khalanga-9, Bhanjyang in Chaitra 27, 2057 BS while returning home from school.

            Among six injured in the explosion, two had undergone surgical treatment while rest four including Piki could not afford to undergo surgery due to financial burden.

            There are still 20-25 shrapnel in different parts of the body of Piki, doctor said. 'Doctors told me that the consumption of medicine would get the shrapnel out', she said, adding that 'I regularly consumed high volume of medicines to this date but the shrapnel are still inside my body'.
