TAMANG FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE IN CAPITAL
Kathmandu, April 20: Nepal National Tamang Ghedung is set to organize Tamang festival at the open theatre, Tundikhel, in Kathmandu from coming May 10-12 on the occasion of 2556th Buddha Jayanti.
At a press conference organized here on Thursday by Ghedung, it was informed that the festival is to be organized with a view to promoting their different indigenous cultures in international arena taking advantage of the Buddha Jayanti.Ghedung Chair Bir Bahadur Yonjan said the festival will be helpful in exploring various aspects and practices of Buddhist philosophy in relation to the social, cultural and religious activities of the Tamang community.
Event Coordinator Tek Bahadur Lama said some of the amount from the fund collected through the festival will be spent in the construction of Tamang House along with a Buddhist religious meeting hall. RSS
